Studying Abroad Is Not Enough

Studying abroad is not enoughRebecca and Maggie were your typical Spanish students. They started out just wanting the school credit. However, as they learned more about Latino culture - salsa dancing, carnaval, paella, Frida Kalho, etc. - they both developed a stonger interest.

Their junior year of college, both girls decided to study abroad in Chile.

While there, Rebecca met Javier, a handsome, Santiago-native who was studying political science at the Potificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Maggie, who had a boyfriend back in the States, never met anyone special.

Arriving home after their study abroad program ended, who spoke better Spanish?

Rebecca, with the help of Javier, became fluent. Maggie could hardly do more than order food.

Studying abroad, while helping both girls improve their language skills, wasn't enough. Rebecca learned to speak fluently because she practiced constantly with her Chilean boyfriend.

The best way to learn to speak a foreign language fluently, is by having a romantic partner who speaks that language.

That is why we created Tongue Exchange, to facilitate these international learning connections!
